Marks First Basketball Game
Mark's first basketball game is on Saturday. His coaches have many great things to say about what a fine young man he is. They really are pleased with him as a person and as a player. I got this email from his coach this morning:
Jerry Thanks.
Rest Mark well Friday night. He's in 6 of 8 shifts and will be then entire season. Maybe 7 if one of the other kids run out of gas.
We're putting him at center (5) although Mark said he prefers the forward position.
He's too valuable to lose out on the wing as a forward. That's where I place the kids with less experience. We need him in the middle of all the action at center to use his talent and dominate. If our guards can't figure out how to get Mark the ball, then maybe we have to look at moving him to guard (2) down the road.
I prefer Mark in the middle so everyone learns how to play text book style. Passing and moving the ball around the entire team. Get everyone involved and Mark can rebound and take pressure off the kids.
If you know your team can rebound and get more than one shot….you are more comfortable as a player to participate, gain confidence an enjoy the game. Let me know if Mark is uncomfortable or has any issues after we play a couple of games.
I saw Jim Duncan last week, Marks' coach from last year. He couldn't say enough nice things about Mark.
