Timber is different than Grizzly, you look at her and realize there may be NOTHING going on inside her head! Don’t get me wrong, I love this little dog, she is so sweet and precious, but I think she may be retarded. We got her when she was about 6 months old and therefore she had been in a kennel for about 6 months with other puppies not really experiencing human contact, now we got Grizzly when he was 6 weeks old and he immediately attached to us and is horrified at the thought of being kenneled. They are so different! Just listen to the list…about a month ago Timber got stung by a yellow jacket, not because the bee was after her, but because she was hunting the bee. Anyways, long and scary story for me made short, her throat began to swell shut and she was making awful hacking sounds while whippering about the sting on her face I called the emergency vet because of course it was the weekend and they weren’t open and I was told to give her a benadryl…she survived!
About 2 weeks ago David was playing with her and Grizzly outside chasing them around, but she doesn’t understand the being chased part of it so she ran towards David and collided with his big foot. I am pretty sure she was unconscious for a minute and then began to almost violently shake. Luckily no vet was needed for this one just some rest on the couch for her. 3 days ago she decided as she was sitting on the couch that she would attempt flight off the arm rest…she jumped in the air did some sort of back flip landed on what had to be her head and got up instantly limping, putting NO weight on her back leg. David and I were positive she broke it…she hopped around for the rest of the night and most of the next morning and then BAM, she could walk again. Strange little dog. And this morning to top it all off she and Grizz were out in the back yard doing there business and she decided it would be a good idea to dig up an fire ant hill. By the time I realized what she was doing, because she was freaking out, she was absolutely COVERED in fire ants. I ran her inside threw her in the sink and spent the next 30 minutes trying to get them off her feet and face. Again I gave her a benadryl and she is now resting occassionally waking up to freak out about the itching I am sure she is experiencing. I don’t understand my slighly suicidal dog, but I love her…and might I add…none of this has ever happened to Grizzly. She is quite the character. I think after Timber, having a real baby will be a piece of cake…God must be preparing me.
